Burdekin Bandroom 31/7/26

My fouth time seeing Radium Dolls this year. My first time seeing them was in Feb this year, well actually it was at the Lansdowne, so I just caught glipses of them, but they sounded fantastic. I followed that up with a great gig at the Vic on the Park, which was so good that when they announced a gig in May, in Newcastle, just a mere 2 and half hours drive away, I promptly bought tickets. Totally worth the 5 hour round trip. Burdekin Bnadroom is very quick, cheap uber so naturally I was in.
Before the gig, my gig buddy (and videographer) and I found ourselves singing one of my fave songs of theirs “I Think Your Boyfriend Likes Me Too”. I felt the need to tell him “They won’t play that”. So they opened with it….This isn’t the first time a band has done this to me. I feel like, at this point, if I really want to hear a song I should just tell someone they won’t play it. I digress. So they started with a firm fave and it just kept getting better form there. The engery on stage was high from the get go. Tom (Radiums guitarist) was, as always, smilely and bouncey. Just fun to watch. Will was sporting his sunnies, jacket, and a shirt, but not for long. I (well my videographer) managed to get a video of the moment he took his shirt off whilst recording Rat Song. The crowd reaction was loud, however I only know this from rewatching the footage, becasue at the time I was in awe of Ewan, playing the bass and a harmonica at the same time.

Song highlights for me were NAA. My love for that song knows know bounds. The entire crowd was bouncing and singing. I am not alone in my love. Tractor Parts obviously. They also played Moving and Favourite, so combined with opening with a banger, this set was outstanding.
